If I were to set up a webcam anywhere I could I would set it up?

I would set up a webcam in a pub at the times of around 8pm till midnight and put it on the bar stand. The reason I chose to put a webcam there is because of the vast amount of different narratives/stories that are told at the bar stand or within a bar itself. People who are sober or completely smashed both talk at pubs even though drunken talk can make no sense at all to a sober person it is still a narrative in which they piece together.

Also for the comedy value of a someone who is drunk because they do not know or do not care that they are being watched and to some degree a sober person as well.

The reason for the timing is, that’s when pubs start getting busy, when the people come into with their mates to have a few drinks and a laugh and keep it going until the end when the pub closes because as the time goes on more people will drink , have a laugh and tell stories.

The positioning of the webcam on the bar stand is to make it visible, let people know their being watched because in my experience they will take no notice of it or the feeling of being watched is soon forgotten. Also it is one of the best place to get as much ‘action’ as possible in a pub.

For this all you need is a webcam feeding into a computer (which will be under the bar stand) recording total cost = not much 30£ webcam 300£ laptop.

Collin Asmus is an artist who’s work involves taking web cam shots of people all around the world and paints them. He says that ‘the people in my paintings have no idea that there being watched or even being being painted. He captures people in there normal behaviour. Because its on webcam he puts it onto the internet so more people can watch what the webcam sees.

www.prezi.com, this website allows the user to create quite amazing looking presentations with ease. It gives the user the ability to make the presentation using 3d space as one of its main features, For example words can be made small and the camera will zoom into that word to make it normal size during the presentation.

Types of 3d viewing

First there is Anaglyph using the 3d glasses to create a 3d image on screen. It does this by allowing only certain colours of light to enter through each lens and because there are two images (slightly offset) with different colours red,blue for example the images appers 3D.

Cross eye stills are again easy to create but first you need two images slightly offset from eachother, put them side by side and stare straight at the centre of the whole new image where two meet and cross your eyes. simples.

Polarized stills is how they created Avatar in 3D.What it is is two projecters which give out two different types of light, one vertical one horizontal, and the glasses you wear each lens allows one of the light to pass through.

Tilt Shift

Tilt shift is a very intresing prosses which changes a focus point of an image to make it look like a toy.

As you can see in these images that i have created the focus point stands out from the image and looks slightly like a toy. Its not perfect yet if you get it right it looks awsome.

Installation Art- Art which imerses the viewer within the art work such as virtual reality or video games do. There are six main types of installation art which are:

.Tactile-Physical doing somthing which results in success

MY footage

The footage I have shot is 7 minutes long of following unaware people through a path along Kingston. A type of spying/stalker genre of footage, to see the public’s reaction. With this type of footage the only acceptable place for it to be shown would be the internet. I say this because it is so easy to put anything on the internet now days with sites such as you tube or vimeo, without it being questioned about its purpose or being restricted with age ratings. Also it is free for people to access the net and these types of websites which are extremely popular with net users and will result in more viewers. The fact that it is a bit of footage in which ‘stalking’ occurs means the net is really the only place it can be played but also a title meaning something different could change the narrative of the footage completely.
The internet is accessible by anyone with a internet connection which again is most people anyone is able to go on and watch this video. Therefore the audience will be aimed at anyone on the net that wants to watch it, anyone from young to old will be able to access the footage.

Quicktime vr

Taking a full set of of images (roughly 16) to create a panoramic view. Then using PT Gui i can stich all the images together and create a Quick time Vr
Quick time vr’s are a great way to show the whole area around yourself.
First what u do is take as many images it takes to do a 360 around yourself then you can do one straith up and one straight down. With PTGui yoy stich them together and cubic converter renders it out.
